North
American culture really is my world.
My
business is not just a business... it's a way of life...a true lifelong
passion for everything this is indigenous to the Native peoples of America.
Plain's Indian's have not only been my lifelong passion... but my dreams...my
study... my pride... and now my business.
Based
in the United Kingdom, Renegades UK originated from an interest
as a boy. Passion and enthusiasm for the Native American...their way
of life... culture, traditions and love of the planet.
My business has grown year on year and expanded without compromising
my values or my products.
"RESPECTING ONE ANOTHER IS THE ONLY WAY TO EARN YOUR RESPECT."
Materials I choose are chosen to fit the true authenticity of the products I make. I won't let the materials diminish the quality of my work. Like Native Americans I am friendly to our planet... all my materials are legally obtained via authorised tanneries and trading posts, infact 95% of my materials come from the U.S.A. I neither kill nor do I agree with the killing of any animal including birds and insects. Any plant materials I use are legally bought or are freely given to me. I never ask for tree's, hedges etc. to be chopped down for my purposes.
Wildlife and fisheries act
In today’s modern world it is true to say there are laws to protect endangered species of animals and birds, fish etc. Along with laws that protect and manage the culling on certain animals throughout the world. These laws and regulations are in the Wildlife and fisheries act. I (Renegades UK) would like to make it clear that I completely agree with these regulations and abide with them fully. I will only import my materials from suppliers who also abide with these rules and who are licensed. I always will try to give you authenticity in the creation of my work it is fair to say I do have to use some imitation products as like all Native Americans of the modern world.
Feathers
Within the Shopping pages you will see that I quote Eagle, Hawk, Owl feathers etc. on most of my products. I (Renegades UK) again would like to make clear that these are infact imitation feathers. The feathers used are infact real feathers such as goose or turkey feathers which are dyed for effect and the photos show they make great copies. All other types of feathers quoted are real and genuine and comply with the Wildlife and fisheries act and are perfectly legal to obtain both here in the UK and the USA.
Claws and Bones and Furs
I use many different types of bone items such as skulls, claws, pipe bones, horn bones, pendants and bone beads. All furs that I use such as Coyote, rabbits, bear, Raccoon and sometimes buffalo do have restrictions on them and some can only be obtained at certain times of the year and is restricted. I will only use what is legal to import from suppliers who comply with the Wildlife and Fisheries act. There are certain items that are illegal to use i.e. Eagle claws/ Talons and bear claws or teeth. Any item that may quote Eagle or Bear claws, talons, teeth within their description are in fact imitation. They are made from Resin, wood and sometimes plastic and should say in the description what they are made of. I (Renegade UK) pay all my Wildlife and Fisheries fees on the purchasing of my products where necessary and all import duties where applicable.
I am in the latter years of life and for over 40 years I have had this passion for the Native American culture. I have turned this passion into a very nice business called Renegades UK.
The reason I chose Renegades is because infact I suppose I am a Renegade, because I am a white man with a Native American heart. I was given the name running-buffalo at the age of 7 years by a family friend who saw me one day imitating the buffalo, and according to my parents it was something I was always doing. It is unusual for a white man to have a native name with out first being awarded or earning it. The family friend was a true blooded Cherokee, and I am told was so overcome when he saw my actions and mimic's he felt that running-buffalo was appropriate at the time and the name has stayed with me ever since.
